On the weekend from the 14th to the 16th of June, 28 CompEng students, 10 SubSurf students, and 6 of our lovely team members went on a wonderful excursion to Hamburg.

The excursion started on Friday at 8 a.m. and even though it was early, everyone was excited for the ride and to soon be in Hamburg. Once we arrived at the youth hostel, the group had some off time to explore the city on their own. As the opening match of the Europe Cup for soccer took place on Friday, some of the students and team members decided to spend their evening at a public viewing event, witnessing the major win of 5:1 for Germany!

Still happy about the win from the night before, we all went on a boat tour of the Hamburg harbour on Saturday morning. The time on the boat was not just used for sightseeing but also for taking nice group pictures, creating memories, and becoming aquainted with the famous Hamburg Schietwetter. The day continued with a visit to the fascinating museum Miniatur Wunderland, which features miniature versions of various regions of the world. Surrounded by trees, airplanes, mountains, and humans that were just a few milimeters tall, the group enjoyed the second program of the day.

After exploring Hamburg‘s nightlife on Saturday evening, some stoutharted students ventured to the fish market early on Sunday morning, while others chose to sleep in. Visits to the Binnenalster or the pompous town hall rounded off our trip to Hamburg. The bus collected us on Sunday afternoon and delivered us back to Bochum with tired eyes, but full hearts and impressions from the weekend.

Now that the weekend is over everyone will go back to their usual life, hopefully keeping the trip as a fond memory in their mind and having more friends than before.

We thank everyone that has joined the trip and made it so special!
