On Friday, the 29th December 2019, this year’s official graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering took place. Graduates from Computational Engineering, Civil Engineering, as well as from Environmental Technology and Resource Management celebrated the successful completion of their studies. Furthermore, particularly outstanding degrees and achievements from graduates were awarded.
On Wednesay, 18th December 2019 the CompEng students met up before the winter break for a Bowling Night organized by the Student Council.
The National Scholarship Program (Deutschlandstipendium) is awarded to students who show outstanding academic achievements and are involved in social activities. It is supported by companies, institutions and individuals. Funds from the national and NRW governments further complement the scholarship sums. They are intended to be a contribution to students' living costs and ideally, they should enable them to concentrate on their studies rather than worrying about financial issues. Thus, they considerably help to improve students' study conditions.
Former CompEng student Diego Nicolás Petraroia was granted the Hans-Jürgen Niemann-Prize 2019 for his master’s thesis ‘Bi-material topology optimization considering reinforced concrete’s compressive-tensile anisotropy’.
As the highlight of this year's Welcome Week we visited the Bochumer Ruhrstadion to watch the match of VfL Bochum against 1. FC Nürnberg on Monday, 4th November.
On Wednesday, the 30th of October the CompEng newcomers visited the German Mining Museum in Bochum (Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum) which is one of the most visited museums in Germany with around 365,700 visitors per year.
On Friday, the 18th of October 2019 CompEng visited the Movie Park amusement park in Bottrop.
